Frankly I was afraid by Adrian Paul real voice. I'm used to his deep french one.
Trivia time, Peter Falk and the one dubbing him in french have the same type of voice, and share more than a passing physical ressemblance.

Re: Depp as Wonka?
Well, I cannot imagine myself hearing Paul Andrian in French. Maybe I should reduce volume and look at him ?

Re: Depp as Wonka?
When he speak french with his natural voice, he's got an higher voice, nearly girlish. The man who dub him has a regular bass voice if not very deep one.

Re: Depp as Wonka?
Heard Sean Connery doing this kind of exercise yesterday, quite fun but not so many mistakes (married a French woman for 30 years now).

Re: Depp as Wonka?
am currently reading eats shoots and leaves. love it, its grand funny look at modern punctuation, but not at all boring. the concept is based on this joke:
A panda walks into a cafe. he orders a sandwich, eats it, then draws a gun and fires two shots in the air.
"Why?" asks the confused waiter, as the panda makes towards the exit. The panda produces a badly punctuated wildlife manual and tosses it over his shoulder.
"I'm a panda," he says, at the door. "Look it up."
The waiter turns to the relevant entry and, sure enough, finds an explanation.
"Panda. Large black-and-white bear-like mammal, native to China. Eats, shoots and leaves."
