Default Paris

I finally have the chance to spend a week in Paris this summer. Anyone want to share places to visit, besides the classic ?

I checked for the prices and I found them quite expensive. What should I avoid at any price ?

Is this true about the pickpockets ?

Another old post, but it doesn't matter.

Pickpockets are everywhere in Paris and especially flea markets. Also Lisbon, in Portugal is a pickpockets' paradise. Always wear your handbag strapped across your shoulder, and wear a money belt. Secure all zips on your bags.

I don't know about places to visit, but this is a useful site: Tours, sightseeing tours, activities & things to do | Viator.com

You do you not want to be driving in the Boulevard Périphérique, a nightmare ring road around Paris that would put the UK's M25 in the shade. For staying anywhere reasonable, check out ViaMichelin: Maps, route planner, route finder, world maps, hotel booking, travel guides

We were lucky. We didn't meet any pickpocket.

We started on foot and as we realised it will be impossible to do everthing by foot, we took the tourist bus. It was great as we could stop and see the most attractive spots.

Did you visit any outdoor markets in Paris? You should visit Dieppe, too. Dieppe is a picturesque harbour town easily accessible from the ferry port on a courtesy coach which takes all but 5 minutes. Or take your car across from Newhaven port.

Another two worthwhile places to visit is Reims and Ostend. Reims' city has a wonderful underground carpark with courtesy lifts exiting out onto a huge public precinct. There are 3,000 shops in Reims, and some wonderful brasseries.

In October, Ostend in Belgium has a gastronomic week, the Food festival. It really is a must if you like seafood.

Edit:

I have many pictures of Reims taken after a recent business trip. later, once my post count increases suitably, I'll be pleased to share them.

I didn't see all I wanted in Paris. One week is not enough to see everthing.

I intend to go back anytime soon depending on my holidays and my boss. She really panics if I take two weeks vacation at once. I try to convince her to let me go at least 3 weeks in November but we still need to negociate. A trip over the ocean is really exhausting and I cannot do it if I have only one week every three-four months.

Thanks for sharing Reims picture. Feel free to post more.
