Re: Merlin
I use that trick too for my insomnnia.
Did you notice that the show looks better when you watch it again ? I had the same impression as andrea after the first episode, but as I didn't have anything else more interesting I watched the second and then watched again the first episode to remember some things.

Re: Merlin
Well, I tried to watch it...
I don't think it's that bad, just that there were all sorts of distractions that kept me from really getting into it.
For a start, Richard Wison as Gaius - I'm sorry, but he's so typecast for me as Victor Meldrew that I can't take him seriously - I keep expecting him to come out with "I don't believe it..."
But the worst bit for me was that I was continually being distracted by that castle they're filming in - I managed to identify just about every style of architecture from about 1100 to 1840. It's difficult to suspend belief when you've people in plate armour and heraldic trappings standing in front of a nice Georgian 12-pane window.

Re: Merlin
Yeah, but it is aimed at middle teens who don't have a lot of architectural acknowledge. it cant be 100% accurate, for a start most people wouldn't have a clue what language they would be speaking and you wouldn't be able to tell one from the other through facial hair.
