Re: elections
Let's say you were living with someone who wasn't your husband (as in you didn't have any sort of wedding that would be sanctioned by "the Church") and something happened to you. The person you lived with wouldn't have any say in what happened to you/your furry managers unless you made special arrangements in writing. All decisions would be made by your immediate family (think about the case in Florida of the woman whose husband said that she didn't want to be kept on life support and her parents said that she did [Jeb Bush tried to introduce a state law that would've kept her on life support, no matter what her wishes were.] Same enuram, but without the husband.)
On top of that, all of the benefits entitled to married couples would be severely restricted, if not shut off, from you/your companion (like pensions, health insurance, financial access [like a decent loan for either school, a car or a mortgage], Social Security benefits, etc.) They would be restricted to legitimate spouse and/or non-furred children (possibly ex-spouse.)
Sorry about using your managers this way, but it is the only way I can think of explaining it. btw, please give them a few extra minutes of your attention/servitude for me.
