son's visit

My son is on leave for a few days and is coming home....bringing a girlfriend! This is a first for us!! He is moving to Japan for 3 years (next week), just in time for NKorea to heat up! He's an airman in the Navy.
So, I'm cleaning house today and trying to wrap my head around the concept of the possiblity of becoming a mother-in-law. yikes. My kids have done group dating, hanging with friends, never really having an exclusive boyfriend/girlfriend. (2 boys, 23,21; 1 girl, 18 next week)

Don't overplay yourself, you don't want to scary the poor girl.

they've been friends for awhile, not sure about the details. We are really enjoying the visit, doing alot of music/recording/jammin/drinking/munching...

That's what I figured. Don't want to scare her off. Not sure how they are going to manage the next 2 years while he is Japan. Guess I'll find out.

Had a great visit!! Took the girlfriend to the airport (almost 600 mile round trip) yesterday. It was heartbreaking to see them part. Loved the girlfriend, very nice girl. Son leaves tonight, he's flying out from the local airport (Navy paying, it's expensive to fly in and out of our airport).
They've known each other for a couple of years, became a "couple" about 5 months ago.

They had time before becoming a couple, the basis is, in my very humble experience, more solid. So there's good chance they'll manage just fine with several flights from US to Asia and back.
