The IAU have lost a planet! - that was darn careless...
yes, we've lost a planet. pluto is no longer to be considered a full planet as per new iau guidelines. we now have eight planets and three dwarf planets. it's gonna cause mucho confusion in schools, as witenssed by the fact that it has already cause major upheavals in the scientific community.

Re: The IAU have lost a planet! - that was darn careless...
I'm only interested in planets with human conditions to live on.
And I don't care about their numbers, as long as we are not alone. Maybe humans will learn something about humility the day when other planets are populated.
Hmm, I may be wrong. I don't know why humans, even if they have great potential, manage to spoil everthing. It's like we have the power and the destruction button in our hands, in the same time. Mabye God didn't make us perfect after all.

What about Nemesis, the one in Earth's orbit that trail's us by 180 degrees so that we can never see it. There's a whole lot of space out there. I'm betting those numbers change even in our lifetime.

Hehehe, that's the price we have to pay for our pride as humans.

i think nemisis and xena may be the same planet. the name xena is apparently an affectionate nickname (i would assume by astronermers who spend to much time focused on their telescopes and television sets )
and yes alexa, i'm also more interested in the ones that are able to support life, for potential colonisation as much as meeting the neighbours.

I'm not familiar with Xena but Nemisis was from either a book or a movie from the 60's, I think. THat part of my comment wasn't meant to be taken seriously but with all the names, it is kinda hard to tell.

I believe it is actually named Nemesis, which is a legitimate name according to Behind the Name.com ( http://www.behindthename.com/php/view.php?name=nemesis).
You can get more information if your interested.
