i wondered the same myself. but diluted, a small bottleof vineager lasts two weeks, that includes kitchen and bathroom floors twice a week. that is 35p, as i said, i only use the bicarb when things are really tough. one bottle all purpose kitchen cleaner is £1.09, floor cleaner is then further £2.89, not to mention that vineager is gentler on mops, so less wear and tear. windio cleaner is also about £1.29 (generic) and can be done with vineager. a lemon does the microwave etc... then also carpet freshener is between 78p per bottle to £1.28 per bottle (depending if on special or not, and bicarb is 59p per tub. tub of bicarb does all the carpets in my house whereas tub of carpet freshener only does living room and one bedroom. it does work out much cheaper in the long run.

Salt ? Now, this is really interesting. Never heard about using salt for cleaning.

I think I'll dilute a bit my bottle of vinegar. Thanks, Princess.

When something in the kitchen is particulary greasy, pour some salt, rinse with a wet sponge then clean with vinegar and/or bicarbonat.

Many restaurants use salt and ice to clean the glass carafe of coffemakers.
(salt/ice, swish around, dump it out, rinse)

salt makes a great exfoliater for hands, elbows, feet, etc. Use the big salt crystals mixed with your favorite bath gel, feels great.
