Am still mad too. You don't HAVE to get a pet. But if you choose to then you should be willing to accept the animal for what he/she is. If you want quiet, unmessy pets; get a rock. Don't get a cat and then remove his voice and claws for convenience.

But then again people often do this to other people - expect them to fit into some wierd pre-conceived mould and go all ballistic when they don't. I really don't understand why you would choose the person/animal in the first place if you did not care for who they were.

Somebody asked me at work last week if she could cut her cat's hair. She just got the poor cat and she doesn't like all the mess in the house. Stupid people !

She should've adopted a Sphinx or a Peterbald (both are "hairless" breeds.)

If she thinks dealing with cat hair is a pain...

hnuh, honestly, people can be odd. but jsut on a more postitive animal loving note, a friend of my mothers has this smelly old dog. and old is the word. he has mobility problems and when she got her new car the dog had problems getting in or out of the back seat (yes, the smelly shedding noisy dog in the new car) so she sold said car and bought one that he could get into.
seems like common sense to me.

Some people don't know what common sense means.

Ivy, in Europe muting - as declawing - is considered a mutilation and then illegal. However they sells collars which send lemongrass scent or - worse - electrical shock - each time the pet (usually a dog) wants to be vocal.
It's quite barbaric.

And Phyllis, although I do love cats I wouldn't encourage the breeding of hairless races as in most climates (if not all) these cats can't survive on their own.
