The idea came from a lady in Texas who threw a party with a friend for another friend (it was the guest-of-honor's 40th birthday.) They didn't want to throw another "over-the-hill" party, so they came up with a fiesta featuring a buffet of appetizers and desserts. She shared three recipes in the magazine:

The lady also served salsa with chips, chili con queso, Spanish peanuts, cactus-shaped pimento cheese sandwiches, peppery snack mix and non-alcoholic margaritas. She used colorful pottery serving pieces, chili pepper paper plates and brightly colored napkins and tablecloths on the tables (but you really don't need to if they'll "break your bank") and Mexican-themed decorations along with Latin music completed the room.
The party favors were chocolate bars with custom wrappers that both hostesses printed on the computer.
