The Ladybug cake seems good, and actually August 5 is the perfect day for a birthday party !

The mother is a clever lady, with a nice sense of humor.

Alexa, I found three more themes you could do (again, from Taste of Home magazine):

Tax Day
Christmas Tea
Pumpkin Patch Party

Let me know if any pique your interest.

The idea came from a lady in Texas who threw a party with a friend for another friend (it was the guest-of-honor's 40th birthday.) They didn't want to throw another "over-the-hill" party, so they came up with a fiesta featuring a buffet of appetizers and desserts. She shared three recipes in the magazine:

http://recipes.tasteofhome.com/eRMS/...px?recid=24657
http://recipes.tasteofhome.com/eRMS/...px?recid=24658
http://recipes.tasteofhome.com/eRMS/...px?recid=24671

The lady also served salsa with chips, chili con queso, Spanish peanuts, cactus-shaped pimento cheese sandwiches, peppery snack mix and non-alcoholic margaritas. She used colorful pottery serving pieces, chili pepper paper plates and brightly colored napkins and tablecloths on the tables (but you really don't need to if they'll "break your bank") and Mexican-themed decorations along with Latin music completed the room.
The party favors were chocolate bars with custom wrappers that both hostesses printed on the computer.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask (:kitty:s are standing by.)

It was great. I finally decided to go for a barbecue week-end (I made the menu from one my favorite restos), plus the entries and desserts.
