Default Swimming with sharks

Believe it or not some people pay thousands of dollars for swimming with sharks.

Quote:
"You have certain things in life that are on your list of things to do," says eco-tourist Ted Haines, "and being in a cage and watching a great white shark feed was definitely one of them for me."

Customers pay thousands of dollars for the great white thrill ride, but some marine researchers worry there may be serious consequences.

I've seen too many movies where the cage broke or came apart. (Jaws et al.)

Me, too. That's why I don't understand how could they pay so much money, put as a goal into their life and be proud of it. Crazy people ! They could do better things with those money.

Well, you remind me about something. I have these books of M. Baigent, R. Leigh and H. Lincoln, reporters and specialists in the secret societies. You know, those who inspired Dan Brown for his da Vinci Code. They say humanity deals nowaday with a great existential crise. The churches cannot give us anything to hang on. The proliferation of the sects is a result of the incapacity of the church to to its job. Astrology, mediums, numealogie, etc are on vogue for the same reason.

Do you think that guy spends his money as he has nothing else do to with it ? Or maybe, this is his way to find a goal of his life ? Kinda, I feel something, I am alive.

Simple, it's their life, it's their money. If they choose to get out of the gene pool this way, so be it. May Darwin be blessed.

I'd rather swim with dolphins.

Interesting that you phrase it that way. Have you ever heard of the Darwin Awards. http://www.darwinawards.com/ (Goes to people whose short sighted,self-inflicted demises strengthen the gene pool.) I read one where a gentleman(?) got angry at his girlfriend and began beating on her car window with the butt of a shotgun (of course it went off in his face and dropped him from the gene pool) That was several years ago and I don't think things have gotten any better.

Took directly the phrasing from them. I'm fond of the Darwin Award and, in a different way, of the IG Nobels. And check both of them every year.
