Default Defendant: 'I wanted to eat him -- I didn't want to kill him'

Gee, some people are really sick ! What the hell could they have in their sick mind to volunteer to be killed, eaten and worse eat yourself !

Quote:
The defense showed a videotape of the March 2001 incident, in which the victim made no attempt to escape and was a willing participant.
Meiwes cut off the victim's penis before the pair ate it together, authorities have said. He then cut up the victim, stored his body in a freezer and ate it over the following months.
"The next one must be young but not so fat," Drescher quoted Meiwes as saying after the killing.
No offence for those against death penalty, but for Armin Meiwes I'll say even death penalty is too easy and he got only 15 years of prison.

You do realize that as being mentally unfit, even in a death penalty system, this man wouldn't be sentenced to death ? His case is more relevant to psychiatric ward than to regular prison.
Besides, there's no real crime to sanction with it as the victim voluntereed to be food for him. It's a weird form of suicide, but suicide is not leading to death penalty. The only "offense" here is assistance to suicide, a weird one. Strange as it seems, eating human flesh as such is not a legal crime in most countries. At worst (best), a aggravating circunstance for the crime commited to get said flesh.

The problem with such an Individual (I have difficulties to classify him) is that he is too lucid and he can planify to escape from a phychiatric facility, just to do it again. As you can see in the article, he has no remords and he is ready to do it again with a younger one. And what next ? I consider him as an abnomalie of the mankind.

I agree it's a creepy way to suicide, but I'll definately not encourage it.

You really scare me. What kind of law allows the comsumption of human flesh ? In which countries ?

Sociopath and psychopath are usually quite lucid, they just fail to see why their action are morally wrong.
But there's psychiatric ward specially designed for them.

The same which allows comsumption of poultry or snails. If it's not expressely forbidden, it's allowed by most countries, including Canada and UK. It's a legal void. However, I can't think of a legal mean to get access to this type of "meat", except by eating oneself.

Hmm. This reminds me in Canada most of the laws have been approved one hundred years ago.

I wonder if one day pharmaceutical companies will be able to develop drugs for sociopaths/psychopaths (I know there are a lot available, but not all of them can get them under control. I mean something strong enough to cure) or better, find a surgical procedure to cure them completely.

Didn't the good old lobotomy work well ?
Problem with drugs is that the patient must take them. Outside of hospital, how do you rest assure the sociopath/psychopath will take them. For him, he's not ill.

And transform them in vegetables and punish somebody to take care of them for the rest of their lives ?

See, that's why I thought of death penalty.

If there isn't anything else to eat except cadavers, you are allowed to eat human flesh (think about the plane crash in the Andes where that one Uruguayan [?] soccer team had to resort to cannibalism in order to just survive.) I don't know of any country that prohibits that (but I could be wrong. *blush*)

Otherwise, you could end up in a similar place as the defendant in this case.

Remember the case of the Jeffery Dahmer who was not sentenced to death but only manage to survive in prison a year or two.

If you're asking me, my doctor's office was less than four blocks away from Dahmer's apartment complex. I knew one of the MEs who worked on the case, too.
