So, Sanchita. You're in the Valley, aren't you? Up north in the Sacramento Valley, or down here in the San Joaquin Valley?

I hear you about the fog. My mother and I went out to dinner tonight, and when we came out of the restaurant about 7:15 p.m., it was already getting thick. I do have to say, however, that the past three days have been almost spring-like - I even had the bedroom windows thrown wide open all afternoon today. Of course, as you know, that can depend on which block you're on. About 9 this morning the sun was out and shining here at home, but a couple of miles away at the airport visibilitiy was practically zero.

As far as the rain goes, our planters flooded, but that was about it. In other parts of town, though, there were flooded streets, flooded houses, pretty much flooded everything. I think they said on the news that something like 15 flood control basins overflowed.

I would like to say good-bye winter, but I'm afraid I have to deal with it for another 5 months. The snow began in november and it seems it will keep it that way till the end of the season. We are practically buried in snow.

Figures that it flooded out by the airport. In fact, now that you mention it, I remember seeing one of the local reporters out there reporting on the flooding the other day. McKinley floods every time it rains even a little bit. A friend of mine used to work at a sandwich shop on McKinley and one time when I tried to go visit him, my car nearly floated away - and it hadn't rained all that much.

Ah, out that way, eh? I lived in Firebaugh a couple of summers when I was a kid - my father was a produce inspector for the state, and they sent him up here from where we lived then in southern California to inspect the melons and grapes, mostly. We also lived in Madera a couple of summers. Then, after my father died, my mother and I moved to Sanger, where my mother grew up. We lived there for years and years (and I hated it), but we're in Fresno now - in fact, I'm not all that far from the airport, close enough that I can hear the planes revving up to take off at night sometimes.

It's very cool to find someone in this general area on the forum.

I'm glad you got your nice day today, Sanchita. It was pretty here, too. A few too many clouds for my taste, but it was fairly sunny most of the day.

With everyone on this forum flung all over the world - Canada, Europe, India - it's almost unreal to find someone here who is so close. Very cool.
