Re: My new year: on the road, up the hills, into the green
I find the best way to be profane in English is to entirely eschew Fs and Bs and cococt long-winded, verbose epithets.
My favourite insult ever occurs in Matthew Hughes's Black Brillion. The hero has just been ordered on a tough assignment with a partner he does not trust. He complains to his superior. His superior tells him to observe a squirrel on a tree below the window, which is involved in a vigorous scrutiny of it's own hindquarters.
'That squirrel and I are engaged in a contest to see who is less interested in your opinions,' says the man. 'Currently, I am winning.'
Oooh a sting!
