where is your favorite places to meet new people? why?

Music festivals are great places to meet people at. You really don't have much of a choice about it!

I've been going to festivals for many years, and it's always great when you first get there and pitch up your tent and start talking to your new find neighbours for the next few days. I've met many good friends through music festivals, and it is so much easier to stay in touch these days with e-mail and mobile phone. Some friends we (my wife and I) met at Glastonbury Music Festival a number of years ago, we always see as we always camp in roughly the same place on the site. We also went to FIB festival in Spain this year and met some nice friends there that we will look forward to seeing again next year.

I never specifically set out to meet people. Actually, for the most part I avoid meeting new people whenever I can. I hate smalltalk so generally people find my conversations completely dull and I don't care much for theirs either. So, I stay in, keep myself to myself and meet people only when I have to. Therefore, I have no suggestions for you.

I'm exactly the same. Wow, we'd get along so well... Except we probably wouldn't actually speak to each other.

Only tend to meet people online... IRL can be such a let down on all sides...

And if you want to avoid them, then you block them from your IM's!!!

i agree totaly...... :biggrin:
at least if it is online you can get out quick and not have to worry about someone calling u back....
i like meeting online just because it is easier 4 me....and i like the mystery of not knowing....
but in most cases i do meet some freaky people that i never want to talk to again and i dont have to cuz i just block him or her out..... :biggrin:

Although saying that... I have got invitations to meet online people IRL, and I'm thinking of taking them up on it...

Yeah. Me, too. On all counts.

But I seem to meet more than my share, anyway. I haven't quite figured out how that works yet. Although my dad was kind of like that, too (although he loved meeting people)...it's called a drunk and psycho magnet. The other day, I had some random woman in the check-out line at the grocery store try to give me a kitten she had at home. And I've had more people I don't know tell me their life stories. I get this sort of thing a lot. *we need a shrug smilie here*
