Default let me introduce myself

yes, I'm a newbie, haven't actually chatted much, ever. Probably not doing this the correct way, so please forgive me if you find yourself cringing....
I am a 40-something music teacher, band and orchestra, junior high. i play the fiddle, classically trained but have gone over to the "dark side" playing folk, jazz and rock now.
I only watch White Christmas during the last week of school before the holiday break. I detest public school Christmas programs, but use WC as a way to show students the era of the crooners. Had a concert last night, advanced band played james bond theme, so after busting their balls with rehearsals and other heavy stuff this fall, we are watching "Live and let Die" What a hoot! It does have a great beginning that shows the funeral procession/dixieland stuff. "whose funeral is it?" "Yours" (and he stabs the guy) oh yeah, I also own a cappuccino maker like JB has and uses to make a cup for Q. Mine is broken, and the instructions are in Italian. I think it needs a new gasket. yes I'm a musician, not a mechanic.
I read, cook, watch movies (and admittedly -junk TV) love to camp (in a camper with a bathroom), and visit with folks.
I have no idea what all those symbols are for at the top of this box (especially that m with the arrow that keeps moving). not one to use smiley/frowny faces.

Hello phiddlechik and welcome to the forum

I'm afraid I'm a newbie in music, so I cannot ask you anything about it. Well, maybe I could I ask who are your favorite singers or bands.

P.S. I "helped" a little your text below. You have to select first the moving text and then click on - M-

I like lots of singers and bands, but am really into live music. My CD collection contains alot of stuff that I purchased directly from the artist. LOVE the BB King 80th birthday album, just saw him in concert, what an amazing show he puts on! Nickel Creek is another fav. Last concert I attended was a group of instructors from a college in state, great live jazz. We have several gigs coming up (private parties), doing old standards (Cole Porter, Gershwin) as well as covers from an eclectic mix: Tom Petty, Jimi Hendrix, Lyle lovett, Beatles, and folkie/cowboy stuff.

I cannot work without music. My radio plays all the time at work. It helps me concentrate. I must admit, most of the time I don't even hear it. It bothers me only when I don't like the song and I have to find another frequence.

I can listen folkie/cowboy stuff 24h from 24h.
