Children's/Animated Movies
I don't know if it is just my personal feelings or what, but I've been pretty disappointed in the movies that have come out lately that are either animated or geared for children or both. The last decent one I saw was Little Nemo. Shark Tale was ok, but not great, Robots was just animation with voices - no plot, and Madagascar was alright but just not quite up to snuff. The only one that was made during this period that I did enjoy was Racing Stripes, mainly because it was made similar to the early Disney live action movies - like The Absent Minded Professor, That Darn Cat, The Shaggy Dog, Bedknobs & Broomsticks...
Do you guys feel the same way or am I alone here? I've always loved children's movies and it seems sad to see the stories and plots go downhill while they concentrate on image and graphics and animation.

Re: Children's/Animated Movies
Sorry, DD. I don't watch them anymore. I wish I had the time to do it. *sigh*

Re: Children's/Animated Movies
I moan about it all the time! most of the kids movies are plotless and thoughtless and stupid. and i get to watch most of them. grrrrrr, interminably. however i can much recomend:
Ella Enchanted
Freeky Friday (the remake which i was dreading was really very good, i even cried at the end, and lindsay lohan wasn't to terrible either, which i was dreading)
oh, and my daughter says that Sky High is fantastic and she wants it on dvd for xmas, but then she also loved the lizzy mcguire movie, so i'd say take it with a pinch of salt.
as for animation, they tend to be much of a muchness and i've never had much time for them. i thought the incredibles was overrated, sharktale was dreadful and my daughter told me madagascar was rubish. Monsters inc was good, and very undisneyish, nemo was sweet, but yes on the whole kids proraming and movies suck!

Ice Age was good. Apparently the same people that did that one are creating a new movie out of the comic strip, Over The Hedge

I saw a sneak preview before watching one of the aforementioned bad movies and it looks like it might be good.

Re: Children's/Animated Movies
That's because children - now as before - live in the same world than adult.

Re: Children's/Animated Movies
or, we as adults believe they are. tales about children, are still popular, but they want to be empowered, not talked down to by grown ups.
