i've been looking at editions of books for sale and have come accross the term 'unbound' edition. does anyone know what this means?

Re: Publishers edition
Hmmmm.* I don't know, but the only thing I can think it might be is a set of unbound galleys, the things that go to the author for proofing and corrections after the type is set but before the books are printed. But that's just a guess.
There are also bound uncorrected proofs.* I don't know who all those go out to, but my library system has a fair amount of them in the shelves.* I think one of the places they go are to reviewers, but they always have warnings on them that they are uncorrected and that the final book might appear in a different form.

Re: Publishers edition
Are the pages loose? If so, it's unbound. If it's in the usual book form, it's bound.

Re: Publishers edition
my dilema is that i have a book for sale, not wanting to under or over price i've checked out amazon but they only have unbound copies, which are selling for upwards of £50! mine is a ratty old paperback. hehehehe, don't think i'll get that for it, but still nice to know what i'm comparing with. the amazon description only says unbound, no warnings about not being same as other published eds etc....

Isn't there any way you can communicate with them and ask what "unbound" means, in that context?
