Lost
so why is this program so popular and such a phenomenon? I've watched the first three episodes, so i'm no expert, but people suck on an island with strange goings on and unable to be rescued is hardly original. and yet it's doing something because so many people are enjoying it so much. is it just good writing? or characters? or is it simply the lack of scripted reasonably intelligent programming that is drawing the fans? i like it. do you? and what are your thoughts.
*please mark any spoilers for people like me who are very new to the show.

Re: Lost
Good story-telling (compared to the poor substandard of most TV shows) and some incredibly good acting (Jorge Garcia playing Hurley, Terry O'Quinn playing Locke or Josh Holloway playing Sawyer comes to mind) got me addicted. Plus a bunch of beautiful male actors (guys got female equivalent).
Add a good mix of mystery, drama, and comedy and you've got a success.

Re: Lost
Leto's right - it is a good mix of good scriptiing, directing and acting (not to mention the eye candy for both sexes...) and the fact that compared to all the reality crap and sitcom crap out there these days, anything unique is going to at least get our attention and then they held it with quality.
Or as my hubby keeps saying every time we watch an episode..."I'm Lost!" "What the...?" So it keeps us guessing and on our toes.

Re: Lost
Well sum-up. But be careful of Sawyer, this character and his books will be the end of my credit card...
