No you cant see the switches from the room or vice versa and once you enter the room you cant return to the switches...

You would turn two lights on wait for a bit then turn one of them off. In the room you would touch the two light bulbs that are off and see which one is hot. By doing this you could figure out which light bulb goes with which switch.

Cathy has six pairs of black gloves and six pairs of brown gloves in her drawer. In complete darkness, how many gloves must she take from the drawer in order to be sure to get a pair that match

ok Im a touch lost now, if she takes three gloves she must have atleast one pair... unless you mean that she can only take out two gloves because if she grabs the third its not a pair its three gloves or that any two will match just fine in pitch black darkness. :biggrin:

The answer is actually 13 because it is possible to take out 6 left handed black gloves and 6 left handed brown gloves without getting a pair.
