Films that just wouldn't work.
Recently i've had a nostalgia bout, watching old films that i really enjoyed. often very silly, but highly enjoyable. but so many of them just wouldn't work nowadays with cell phones and modern forensic technology.
Dean Jones stalking DC trhough the streets, nowadays's they'd just microchip him.
The cat from outter space, trying to find a huge amount of money to a block of gold, and yet gold is so de-valued nowadays.
And so many detective films in which our modern day technology and forensics would have blown it out of the water in the first five mins.
How many 'kids stranded at the side of the road' and 'roadtrip style' movies are now irrlevant with mobile phone technology.
so this is a thread dedicated to fantastic films, which if re-made in modern times, would just not work.

Re: Films that just wouldn't work.
*giggles* "That Darn Cat" (the original you mention, not the recent remake) is just the best movie. I haven't seen it in years. I'm going to have to see if my video store has it.
I'm going to have to think about this topic, though, see if I can think of any favorite films that fit your criteria of being out of date technologically. It's nearly 1 a.m. here now, and I'm about to go to sleep. I'm only still up because I'm listening to a talk show on RealOne, and they're being fairly amusing. But I think I'm going to give it up and go to bed. At least its cooler tonight, so maybe I'll sleep a little better.

I couldn't help but think of the self-referential nod in Superman when Clark Kent ran for a phone booth and there was only one of those phone-with-a-hood thingies.
Darn technology!

Or better yet there wasn't any phone at all because businesses are losing money to people having cell phones and no longer need a phone on the wall.

Re: Films that just wouldn't work.
I loved That Darn Cat! (The original, though the remake was cute, it wasn't nearly as good)
I know there are tons that wouldn't work but for the life of me I can't think of one!

gonna have to add the RHPS (much as i loved it) becuse of mobile phones, satelites, cape canavral and radar tracking of the 'castle, and sat nav for the car. not to mention that it starts with a wedding, which is so passe` to modern society these days. sigh.
