OK, we have gene splicing, and wether we like it or not they are researching our genome and dna. there is a possibility that oneday we'll be able to change our own phisilogy (a topic loved by science fiction). so, if there was a way for us to change our bodiesto adapt to other terrains, eg water, would you take it?
It's up to you, babe!
What concerns me, I think that future will show us the ways.
If we want to become better, if we want to survive at all, we will have to change, at least spiritually and mentally. Now, we are apes so far!
imho we will evolve anyway. we already have. this is merly speeding up the process.
as for the example of gills, well, invitro we do pass through a phase where we have gills, so not that much of a stretch there.
the other question of course is whether or not the alterations would have to be performed on each member of the succeeding genrrations, ot if a permantant mutation would occur.
