DVD releases of the week
This week we can add to our collection: Constantine, Ice Princess, Man of the House and another Urban Legends.
You can see Keanu Reaves playing Jonh Constantine, a guy born with a special gift which alouds him to recognise angels and demons that walk on Earth in human skins.
Walt Disney Pitures offers us a hilarious comedy, Ice Princess with Michelle Trachtenberg, the actresse known from the TV show, Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
"Man of the House" looks funny with Tommy Lee Jones as Texas Ranger in a protention mission of a group of cheerleaders.
For those who enjoy being scared, buy another Urban Legend.

Oh m...e ! They didn't even read John Constantine bio before directing the movie. No way in Hell I approach this.
That's my Constantine :

Sorry to hack this thread, but the casting of this movie madden me almost as much as the one of Interview with a vampire. Even if I have no particular dislike of Keanu Reeves.

You know they need a famous and nice actor to get people watching the movie. I didn't have the time to see it yet, but looks intersting. I'll take the DVD for a rent only.

Re: DVD releases of the week
i've not read the hellblazer books myself, but i did enjoy the film.
to say that dear keanu was wooden, would be insulting to furniture. the suporting cast was good, and so was the majority of the story. although the ending was a large pair of plaid golfing trousers.

I strongly suggest you to read Dangerous habits and Rake at the Gate of Hell TPB which most of the movie story was supposed to be inspired from

Re: DVD releases of the week
I just saw the movie. As I said, this should be for rent only. I couldn't find anything special in it. Just another story of exorcism.

Re: DVD releases of the week
Constantine was enjoyable for me. Not knowing the comic history. It was much moreso than The Fantastic Four because of that. I think that when you grow up knowing a character, you have preconcieved ideas about how that person should be. Which is fine, because they rarely get it right in Hollywood. So I guess I was lucky not to have known Constantine beforehand. I have yet to see Sin City but I'm hoping not to be very disapointed in it. It's always a crap shoot with these types of films.

Re: DVD releases of the week
I would like to highly recommend you "Million dollar baby" The movie is presently on DVD. I loved the cast (Clint Eastwood, Morgan Freeman, Hilary Swank) and the story. Not the kind of movie Hollywood usually gives us.
"Million dollar baby" had 7 nominations at Oscars this year. Clint Eastwood was nominated for the best actor in a leading role, but he got the Oscar for Directing the movie. Morgan Freeman got the Oscar for the best actor in a supporting role. Hilary Swank got the Oscar for the best actress in a leading role. The movie had a nomination for editing and writing and got the Oscar for the best picture.
This is the story of a woman, Maggie Fitzgerald, who at 31 years old wants a box trainer and not anyone. She wants only Frankie Dunn, the owner of a run-down gym, as she was convinced she could participate in championships wiht him. But Frankie Dunn refuses her. She's a girl and two old for the ring and not enough of experience. Maggie is not descouraged and she traines every day long hours by herself. Her perseverence touched Dunn and his friend Freeman and bit by bit they show her how to practise. Afer two years, she's ready for the championship for one million dollars reward. The other is a killer in the ring. That's all. I don't want to tell you how the movies ends.
Just take it and let me know if you like it.
The movie can be seen like a boxing one, but the heart of the movie is the story, the relationships drama into the familes. Meggie is not happy and welcomed into the house of her mother. She is not loved by her family, so she put all her energy in the trainig.

Re: DVD releases of the week
I agree Alexa Million Dollar Baby was a great film. It's sad though that in the real world families like Maggie's can be found. However, she seemed to rise above it all and want to do nothing but be the best person she could be without asking for anything herself. The only thing she asked for was to box. It was a touching movie with great characters and certainly deserved the Oscars it recieved. Some people make fun of Hillary Swank, but I really like her as an actress. She isn't affraid to take roles that may not be mainstream. Of course she isn't Angelina Jolie when it comes to looks (as in obvious beauty), but I think she is very pretty. Plus, she looks like she could kick some serious ass if needed. LOLOL...
I loved the story between her and her family. Some people are just not worthy of the blessings they recieve.
