CSI - Double Bill
Well, I'm narcd! the grand finale of the current CSI series (Vegas for the pedants) has been moved, for the second time. Thats right folks. I sat down to watch the much advertised and hyped Directed by Quentin Tarrantino, and found: Best Actress or some such nonsense being touted as next. CSI is moved to tommorow night. And i'd even managed to get the toddler to allow me to watch it
Last week it was cancelled because it appparently contained graphic images which might upset people in line with the news of the raids on bombing suspects homes and car bombs and such, now this week it must have been re-scheduled due to important programing (which has been seen at least three times before i'm sure). It's damn irritating.
I'm really eager to see what tarrantino has done, given the limited scope of CSI compared to his usual style of free for all. I'll post up my opinions AFTER watching it though

I didn't see a new episode for months. They keep repeting old episodes again and again.

Re: CSI - Double Bill
i'm not going to go into specifics, for people who haven't watched, it was the finale of season five. but i can say that i was a bit disapointed. Tarantino seemed to feel a need to mess with scripts, and there was a very sureal black and white incident at the end. It's not that i didin't enjoy the episodes. The disapointment came rather from seeing that tarrantino seems to only be able to replicate himself. One of the things i was looking out for in this episode was to see how he'd manage to work within a specific formula framework. the answer now seems to be that he couldn't. If he had, that would have been artistic challange offered and met, instead he just created certain secens from his movies, the plot had huge holes in it (as to be expected), the dialogue was shaky, and the actors didn't seem confortable with the changes to the intrinsic characters that they obviously know very well. So worth a watch, certainly, but with none of the polish (however unrealistic it may be) of the usual episodes, and there was a very short scene tacked onto the end which was just stupid. For me, it would have been better left out.

I liked how he did this episode. Though I agree about the small scene in the end. It would've been better left out. I guess they are leaving it open for the future...

Re: CSI - Double Bill
Hmmm...I have to agree that that one scene near the end was a bit odd and seemed out of place. But I honestly wouldn't expect less of Tarantino, whose work I generally do like. But I liked the episode, overall. If nothing else, it was worth it for the last line, when Grissom says, "I want my team back". I really haven't liked the split-team season much at all. I've pacified myself with seeing the first and second season reruns that they show here in the States at 11:35 on Saturday and Sunday nights.
You know the thing I didn't like, generally this season, was the several episodes when Catherine was kind of, sort of seeing the guy who had that bar...can't recall the character's name, but he was played by the guy who was Krycek on "X-Files". That just didn't seem like the right fit for the show or Catherine's character.

Re: CSI - Double Bill
or when she went out and got smacked around by that DA, it just feels like the acress is trying to pull more into her character. one of the things that i've loved and hated about csi (and more originalhy law and order) is that very little of the characters personal lives comes through, just the most important bits.
i loved that bit with grissom, and if the episode had ended there i'd have been fine with it. it was the tagged on extra two mins of footage afterwards that agravated me.

Re: CSI - Double Bill
That's interesting. You must have gotten something we didn't here in the States, then, because as far as I can recall (it has been almost three months since the that episode was shown here), the episode here ended with that line. I'm pretty sure it was, because I've seen some comment about it.
I think the intereting thing about the episode about Catherine and the DA is that the actress who plays Catherine and the actor who played the DA are married in real life. We just got the repeat of that episode here last week, and I was really interested in the dynamics of some of the scenes they played together and I wondered how difficult it must have been to play them and then go home together at night. Seems to me that would have been kind of weird to do.

Re: CSI - Double Bill
So, you guys in the UK had the episode end with "I want my team back"? That wasn't the ending here.

Re: CSI - Double Bill
No babe, thats where it should have ended! we ended with that silly scene with Nick going to see the badies daughter in hospital. LMA isn't in the UK, so i'm not sure if it was edited there, but probably not.
