Re: I want my own thread...yea...good idea.
Hmmm...about me.
I live in East Texas. Actually, its an hour and a half outside of Fort Worth-Dallas. I was a Navy kid for the first years of my life. That is why I am so supportive of Iraq and whats going on over there. I was jostled around through nine states. At twelve I moved to Texas. My old man left his job with the railroad, and we moved along the lake with his family in Tyler.
I enjoy alot of things, though the outdoors is the best. I do it whenever I can. I work alot, though, so often, I just am too tired to do so. Kayaking, camping, mountain biking, snorkeling, and any other thing in the world that deals with that genre I love. I love to travel. Destin and Fort Walton Florida are my favorite places to visit, though, after the recent hurricanes, I am afraid to go back. Hot Springs, Arkanasas is probably my second fave in places of leisure. I like it there.
I have family spread all around the US. Some are in Iraq now, fighting for the 'cause'.
I work for Frito Lay. Going on nine years to be exact. After starting so young, and already having in nine years, I am destined for an early retirement. I plan on ending up on some beach, somewhere, like the song says.
Anyway, enough talking about me. I enjoy the Chronies site. At first I found it to be boring and slow, but, it grows on you after awhile. So....

Hello Stormflame.
I have some questions for you : What's Frito Lay ? Did you travel outside of USA ? Why ending somewhere on the beach if you like camping, moutain biking, etc ?
I am against war, so I'm afraid I cannot understand your support for Irak cause.

Re: I want my own thread...yea...good idea.
Hmmm...I love the outdoors, true.* But, the beach is my foremost love.* I want to retire to the beach, and visit the outdoors, not the other way around.* I have lived in the outdoors, as a West Virginian and Marylandite.* So, yea.*
I almost added this next statement in when I was making this thread, because, realizing that this thread is read all around the world, it had come up before.* And then, as now, I am amazed that people in other locations have never ever heard of Frito Lay.* Hehe...my last time of hearing this was from a guy in the UK.* I was shocked then, but, have to realize, it is not the same over there as it is here.*
Frito Lay is the world's biggest, mega-billion dollar snack food giant.* It is in short, a chip company that rules the industry in most of the world.* Do you ever see those vendors riding around in trucks delivering to convenient stores and probably your local Walmart chain and grocery store chains...well, that is what I do.* A low stress job that deals HEAVILY with people.*
-
Alexa, on the whole war issue, I have BIG opinions that I take as being fact when I say them.* The World Trade Center bombings killed innocent people just like me.* Dig out, root up, kill anything that deals with terrorism.* The latest bombings and killings in Iraq and where else, are just a sign that the terrorism-network is really big and capable of much.* They need stopped.* With the whole invading Iraq event, I realize that there were other reasons for entering Iraq on the table.* I am Republican and aware of that.* But, the dictatorship of Saddam is ended, and in the end, Iraq is and will be a better place for the people of Iraq and the people of the world.*
I do not like war, either, Alexa.* I hate war.* But, our planet has been stage for war as long as history can tell.* From vikings to indian tribes, to the groups of monkeys in the jungles.* It is just how the world works, and always will.* Do you mean to tell me that WWII should not have taken place.* Do you mean to tell me that Hitler should have been left alone to go on about exterminating the Jews and every other sub-race.* They live in the moment, living from cause to cause, when, if you look back in history, it is just the world repeating itself over and over.*
Luv, yall
~Bye.

Re: I want my own thread...yea...good idea.
I'm Canadienne, Stormflame, so this may explain why I have no idea about Frito Lay. Not a fan of fast-food. We have the Wal-Mart chain, but I don't like them very much.
You are right. There were a lot of wars during centuries, but this doesn't mean I have to agree with them. War means destruction and people dying for a bunch of people who make fortune behind the scene.
Invading another country is not the best way to destroy terrorism. And I do not believe Irak invasion will stop terrorist atacks. Are you sure irakien people appreciate to have another country to dictate inside of their own teritory ? I'm not sure about that. And you have to understand muslim people for that. What a special FBI or a secret service agent is for if not to find terrorists or other dangerous people ? No war is necessary if we let them deal with terrorists. It's their job after all.

Re: I want my own thread...yea...good idea.
The FBI and secret service, as odd as that may sound, cannot defeat an army, nor can they really bring a dictator down. Their hands are full worrying about terrorism and stuff at home. An army, such as ours, is mobilized only after it is determined that those 'few' individuals can have no outcome against the threat. If it would have been that easy to go in and take out Saddam from the start, don't you think they would have. But, Saddam had a whole nation, linked with terrorist groups, and a whole religion to deal with. We are not fighting a war between men here, we are fighting a religion that teaches 'killing one heathen saves your place in the afterlife where a hundred virgins will answer your every desire.' There is no safe and peaceful way to go around or combat that sort of craziness peacefully.
Nine eleven brought about a 'new order' in America. No more do we have to set around and think that the world is scared of us and respects us as a superpower to not be messed with. We no longer have to set around and consider the threat of terrorists waking us up with an airliner plowing into a skyrise building. We are into the forefront with 'shock and awe' giving them a wake up call, that says, if you hurt me, I will find you no matter what and 'fix your ass'. I am proud of that, even though, yes, even I wish there was another way around war and death. But, there is not a peaceful way.
If you have a peaceful solution, please, let everyone know.
But, no one does.
They just like to 'be against the war' because it 'feels' like the right thing to do.

1 - prove me Saddam Hussein has link with Al-Qaeda first.
2 - By fighting a religion, you mean Islam as a whole ?

Re: I want my own thread...yea...good idea.
yeah, I have friends and classmates (and used to have colleagues) of other religions, they certainly didn't have that phillosophy. All they wanted was to raise their families, be free to worship as they chose, and make friends with the people around them.
Generalisations like that one will only cause more problems in any term, be it long or short.
And besides which, other religions aren't as squeeky clean as they'd like us to believe.
I'm a christian, with a judeo history, and yet both christians and jews have taken part in wars of religious significance. I'm not saying anyone was right or wrong, please understand that, because i won't get into a debate about the rightness of the crusades or palestine or ireland, I have very stong views on all of these subjects which would only start arguments. My point is that no one religion has a perfect record, and we cannot write off a race or creed just because a few screaming fanatics misinterpret sacred texts.
