author of daliel and pascoe. And yet the books are so well written. for me the words flow down the cranium like a good aged port down the gullet. I know the cranky oldschool superintendant and the new blood are an old and cliched form, and yet, he manages to bring a certain panache to the series. The supporting cast are never relegated to the background, and are well rounded and interesting.
