Re: Patricial Cornwell - Forensics Vs Police
kathy reighs writes the tempe brenner books, currently serielised as 'bones' with david borneo on sky one at bloody ungodly times of the morning. although the tv show uses the temperance character, i don't really see where they fit into the books.
her books are suposed to be based on her own work as a forensic anthropologist.
as for pat cornwell, i'd say start at the begining of the kay scarpetta books, they are quite good, but became very formula towards the end of the series.

Re: Patricial Cornwell - Forensics Vs Police
I saw "bones" once (it's on Fox over here) and liked it but I have a hard time with seeing network shows regularly because I can't remember when they're on.

Re: Patricial Cornwell - Forensics Vs Police
I went through the toddler stage many years ago and we nearly made it to the empty nest stage. Except, we have 4 dogs, custody of my wife's handycapped nephew, and the youngest coming back home after an unsuccessful attempt at law school. Plus my job has more responsibility to go with the new style compensation. (A small raise and a large bonus reduction).
Is that show still on?

Re: Patricial Cornwell - Forensics Vs Police
How long does it takes nowadays to go from toddler stage to empty nest one ?
Seems around me most girls in their late teens still hang on in parent's home.

Empty nest-youngest was 21. I'm going this weekend to bring her things back home. She leaving law school and looking for a masters degree elsewhere. It'll be another couple of years at best. Empty nest may be the exception rather than the rule.

One more similarity between raising kids and having cats at home. This one is the one who loves sci-fi too ?

Re: Patricial Cornwell - Forensics Vs Police
I liked the first few books, but after that I got tired of it. Maybe I'm too young at 35, but Scarpetta's persecution complex really got to me. Like no man around her could handle a female in power? Or all the serial killers wanted her dead, rather than the jury who convicted him and the judge who sentenced him?
All that office politics and jousting for power just put me off.
