They do look like katanas. Where did you find/get them? Are any of them named? *mewl*

Wow, three questions. OK, first, most of them are considered samurai swords. One is considered a Ninja sword. I do have room for six or seven more on the existing racks.
The swords visible in the two racks are katanas but I also have a pair of wakizashis and a pair of tantos. As to their names, although most of them are sharpenedd and fully functional, they are all mass marketed replicas and if they have names they would not be unique. I purchased some of them at flea markets, some over the internet, where there are many sword dealers, and I even bought one in Disneyworld in Florida. (They had to ship it to me rather than let me carry it out.) I have them mainly for their esthetic value but if I ever had to use a deadly weapon, I feel like I would be much more comfortable, in terms of honor and satisfaction, with a blade.

I hold with a similer philosophy, The Rohnin sword would be the simple one with no guard. I have three swords,a wakizashis, a 4ft europian broad sword and a Chinese long sword, a long bow(modern) and a Bo staff. i have trained with all of them.
there is Soul in a Good blade

I went into the English Heritage shop at Carlisle Castle, and was looking at the metre-long replica of a broadsword that was on sale there (about £125, I believe).

I was rather bemused by the sign on the wall beside it:

Quote:
Sword sold for display purposes only
Not for sale to under-16s
Raises a couple of interesting questions....

I spent a little time on a sword forum (imagine that) and there was quite a discussion about sword being banned in, I think, one of the English speaking countries in Europe. They're legal here. As a matter of fact, I may be seriously underarmed here in Mississippi.

i Think that they have band the sale of 'curved' blades over a certen length now in the uk ,that was the idea, not sure if it came into play yet.

It's a Disclaimer Py, its sold as a display peice so if you cut your own foot off swinging it around EH cant be held responcibal.

I got my 'Equipment' from a licenced martial arts supplier, as i used to be a instructer so i can own them without to many questions.

Apart from reading SF/F, my other great love has always been Naval History, and it never ceases to amaze me to see some of the astonishing-looking ships that have been built over the years.

Here's a French battleship from the turn of the last century - the real steampunk!
