Default suitability

i don't play pc games, not really have time to get involved. but my daughter is hooked on the sims. i was wondering if anyone could give some titles of other games she might enjoy. shes a very sensitive (she has nightmares after history class) nine year old.

Most Sim City versions would od the trick. Try also Zoo Tycoon 2 (she would love it). There's also games like Alexandra Lederman (involving horse racing)

Never heard of them.
You may have a look at Carmen San Diego games (although they're classified as teaching games)

Second hand sales ?
Check www.gamespy.com for their game reviews. They usually state when a game is too violent or bloody. but I would really reccomend the Zoo Tycoon series, they're real fun and suit both kids and adults.

Not sure about the Casino "Tycoon" ones, as you have to sent prostitutes and hitmen to your concurrent establishments.

Princess, you can also try some "Asterix and Obelix XXL" : it's a figthing game but not violent, no roman or pirates are killed.

I'd just say trust the ratings on the box - the ELSPA rating system is really good. If a game is E for Everyone, then it is suitable for a 9 year old. If it is T for Teen, then look at the pictures beside the rating - that explains what the issue might be (violence, racism, swear words, scary or phobia type stuff), and you can make your own decision on if your child is ready for the game. If it's M for Mature then stay away for several more years
