I'm sorry about your eye, Ivy. Hope it improves soon.

Re: what are you reading?
I finished The Ritual Bath, by Faye Kellerman. The earlier discussion about the series that this book begins made me want to re-read the whole series in order. I think I've read all of them, but not in the order they were published. So, I went out and bought the second book today, and I've started it, and I already have the third one, which is waiting on the shelf for me when I'm ready for it. But I also started Magic Street by Orson Scott Card today, as I finally got it from the library. And another request book, The Anubis Gates, by Tim Powers, came in today. So I've got an embarassment of riches in my to-read pile right now.

Re: what are you reading?
Am currently reading Cold Granite by Stuart MacBride. It's a nice little crime/thriller number set in Aberdeen in Scotland. Have been on a little crime/thriller kick and was interested to find one set in a less-than-usual place. Good writing, interesting story, gritty and funny in turn. Well worth a look.

Re: what are you reading?
Just finished The Golem's Eye (sequel to The Amulet of Samarkand by Jonathan Stroud) and am now reading a contemporary non-fantasy novel called The Twins of Tribecca which is supposedly based on real life happenings in and around a movie studio. I'm reading it because I read a very good review of it that made it sound very interesting. I don't usually like these types but so far it is ok.

Have you read any of Josephine Tey's Detective Alan Grant mysteries? Not really a different setting, but they were written in the 1950s. The best know of these is "The Daughter of Time", and there are at least two or three others. They're very good, and I think they hold up well for being fairly old.

Re: what are you reading?
Finished the Black Dalhia and I'm looking for something totally different...
Tailchaser's Song by Tad Williams or Until I find you by John Irving ?

Re: what are you reading?
I'm a bit more than halfway through Sacred and Profane, the second in the Faye Kellerman series I'm re-reading, and I've started Magic Street, which seems like it is going to be pretty good.* Going to try to spend most of the weekend reading, although I do have to get out and run a couple of errands tomorrow (Saturday) morning.* At least its a three-day weekend.

Re: what are you reading?
Currently reading Jasper Fforde's The Well of Lost Plots. This one isn't as fun and interesting as the first two but it is still enjoyable. After that I've got Eldest by Paolini and Straken by Brooks.
